Artist's Websites Analysis + Social Media Data
Gorillaz Website
It has a
very minimalistic layout as you cannot scroll at all its just one page with
their music videos playing across the screen and on the top left they have
links to all of their other services and information such as the store page,
their music, their merch store and podcast to name a few. On the top right
there are links to all their social media such as Facebook, twitter and
Instagram. They also have an unmute button on the bottom so you can hear the
music from the video playing and the terms and conditions link at the bottom. A short advert for their latest song, “Cracker
Island” also plays in between each video to promote their latest material. This
is quite an unconventional approach for a band website to take as most websites
scroll down to show their information but this approach is logical when their
website is mostly used as a page for links to all of their content.

Mac
Miller Website
The website
has some features that are more reminiscent of conventional websites as it
scrolls down and has photos that play or link to YouTube videos for you to
watch about the album faces which is what the website’s main focus is about. If
you scroll down there is a track list in a very bold and large font in a pastel
pink colour that if you click on shows you the lyrics for each song. Right at
the bottom of the website there is a link that looks identical to a MacOS
folder that downloads a folder on to your computer.

Tame
Impala Website
It has a
very similar layout to the Gorillaz website where there is no scrolling on the
website. It features a very minimalistic colour scheme and layout with just
black and white colours with text in the middle and around the side with the
links to their twitter, Instagram, tour, merch and their latest album. The focus
of the website is the abstract empty pill bottle in the middle of the website
which is spinning like its on a lazy susan and if you click and drag it you can
spin it yourself. The bottle is used to advertise the tour as their songs are
so psychedelic and the bottles represent
drugs that the music are trying to capture the feel of.
